Living in Bluewaters Island
Bluewaters Island is a premium waterfront destination developed by Meraas, located just off the coast of Jumeirah Beach Residence. Built as a lifestyle-centric island community, it combines high-end residential buildings, luxury retail, dining, and entertainment - all anchored by the iconic Ain Dubai. Bluewaters offers a limited supply of upscale apartments and penthouses, making it one of Dubai’s more exclusive residential addresses.
The vibe
Bluewaters Island feels resort-like and upscale - think quiet promenades, sea views, and a polished, tourist-meets-resident atmosphere. The community is pedestrian-friendly, with landscaped walkways and direct waterfront access. Residents tend to be affluent professionals, executives, and short-term luxury renters. Compared to busier areas like Marina, Bluewaters is calmer, more curated, and noticeably less crowded on weekdays, though it becomes lively in the evenings and weekends.
Where it sits in Dubai
Bluewaters Island is positioned off the coast of JBR and opposite Dubai Marina, connected to the mainland via a short bridge and a pedestrian link. Its coastal location gives it direct views of the Arabian Gulf and skyline landmarks. Travel times are roughly 5 minutes to Marina, 20–25 minutes to Downtown Dubai, and about 30 minutes to Dubai International Airport, depending on traffic.
Getting around
Despite its central coastal location, Bluewaters is largely car-dependent. There’s no metro station on the island itself, but residents can walk across the pedestrian bridge to access the JBR/Marina area and nearby tram connections like Dubai Tram. Taxis and ride-hailing services are readily available, and parking is well-managed for residents and visitors.
Lifestyle, schools and amenities
Bluewaters is more about lifestyle than practicality - it’s packed with fine dining restaurants, cafés, and boutique retail options, many with waterfront views. Residents also benefit from proximity to JBR’s beach clubs and entertainment options. While there are no schools directly on the island, top institutions in nearby areas like Dubai Marina, Emirates Hills, and Al Barsha are within a 10–20 minute drive. Healthcare access is convenient, with clinics in Marina and hospitals such as Mediclinic Dubai Marina nearby.
The island’s biggest draw remains its unique blend of privacy, luxury, and walkable leisure — making it ideal for those prioritizing lifestyle and views over affordability or daily commute convenience.
