Living in Aljada
Aljada is a master-planned mixed-use community in Sharjah developed by Arada, designed as a modern urban district combining apartments, villas, commercial spaces, retail boulevards and entertainment zones. Positioned as Sharjah’s flagship lifestyle destination, Aljada has become especially popular among young professionals, families and investors looking for newer properties at comparatively accessible prices than central Dubai.
The vibe
Aljada feels contemporary, organised and lifestyle-driven — with wide boulevards, landscaped walking areas, modern architecture and integrated retail spaces. The community has a youthful energy due to its cafes, co-working spaces, fitness facilities and entertainment attractions. Unlike many older Sharjah districts, Aljada was designed with a more walkable and community-focused layout. The resident mix includes families, working professionals and commuters employed in Dubai or Sharjah.
Where it sits in Dubai
Aljada is located near University City and directly along Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, close to Sharjah International Airport. Its position near the Dubai–Sharjah border makes it attractive for residents commuting to Dubai while preferring Sharjah’s lower housing costs. Travel time to Dubai International Airport is roughly 15–20 minutes, Downtown Dubai around 30–35 minutes, and Sharjah Corniche approximately 20 minutes depending on traffic.
Getting around
Aljada remains largely car-dependent, although the internal road network is modern and easy to navigate. The community connects quickly to major highways including Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Emirates Road. Public transport options are improving gradually, but most residents rely on private vehicles or taxis for daily commuting. Parking availability is generally better than in older Sharjah neighbourhoods.
Lifestyle, schools and amenities
One of Aljada’s major attractions is its integrated lifestyle offering. The district includes Madar at Aljada, a large entertainment and leisure zone featuring parks, cafes, fitness facilities and family attractions. Nearby educational institutions include the universities within University City as well as schools such as GEMS Millennium School and Delhi Private School. Retail and dining options continue expanding as new phases are completed. Healthcare access is supported by nearby clinics and hospitals along the University City corridor and central Sharjah.
